Bruno Medicina – an Italian trainer in Romania. Courses on extreme and exciting topics

This article—clearly written by one of my particularly ardent admirers :-)—appeared in a Romanian magazine in 2014, but it had certainly already been published a few years earlier, since it contains references to a crime story that had caused considerable tension within the Romanian community in Italy. I am publishing it anyway, without any changes.

I’ve started writing to you about Bruno Medicina, the Italian trainer who fell in love with Romania. Let’s find out what kind of training sessions Bruno conducts. His approach is extremely direct, friendly, and to the point. He stands out from those impeccably dressed trainers who act as if their time were incredibly precious and who make a big fuss about posting a 10-minute training clip online, claiming to offer who-knows-what tips and tricks.

Bruno gives free lectures and seminars for Romanian students on all sorts of provocative topics, such as “how to start a cult” “the battle of the sexes” “game theory” “breaking bricks” “walking on fire” in which he unabashedly presents the very same principles for which companies pay hefty fees. Hours of training videos can be found on YouTube and Google Video.

Training, Firewalking, and Personal Development

Bruno is, in fact, an extremely modest man, despite his many professional achievements and growing media coverage, especially during firewalking events (see photos), including at the National Psychology Fair (SNP). Like a surgeon, he focuses on ensuring the event is organized as well as possible. I invite you to read the article in Gândul about the firewalking seminar held by Bruno Medicina at the Palace Hall in Bucharest in the fall of 2007, as part of the National Psychology Fair.

I chose this article because it captures very well the message Bruno conveys to people: once he has attained such a degree of mental control that he can walk on hot coals, what he does is offer those interested in following a similar path the tools to create their own path.

Basically, anyone interested can find a wealth of material about him and his work online, as he is an active author in both the field of personal development (author of numerous articles) and in the field of professional and organizational development, and an updated list of links to his work can be found on his website www.brunomedicina.com

Bruno comments in another article on the situation of Romanians expelled from Italy after being classified as offenders by the Italian authorities and on how this affects other Romanians: “I am an Italian who has been traveling through Romania for many years, and I read with great sadness the articles and comments about what has happened: some are looking for a pretext to accuse the Romanians, others the Italians; some are trying to spread propaganda; some are accusing politicians; others are simply trying to gain some sort of publicity.”

The truth is that this whole story was highly predictable; Italian right-wing parties warned as much as they could, but on both sides they were silenced with cries of “racists!!” And now the usual circus of blame-shifting and passing the buck has begun. In Italy, Roma criminals have found heaven on earth, arriving in a country where you can steal, kill, rape, and still find some ideologically driven moron who will defend you and claim that society is actually to blame. I don’t know what to say; if I had a solution, maybe I’d win the Nobel Prize.[…]”

P.S. If it’s any consolation, when I go to Germany, the U.S., Japan, and say I’m Italian, the immediate and inevitable response is: “Italy? Ah, the Mafia, the Godfather, Corleone,…” Just an idea…

Overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information available about this master of personal development, I must admit that anyone who wants to learn from him can do so simply by searching for his work online. As I went through his articles and watched his training videos, I realized that within each of us lies an inner diamond waiting to shine.

A Career Between Sales, Coaching, and Education

Official information about Bruno. Born in Genoa (Italy) in 1959, he has over 30 years of experience in training and sales. He is a master trainer, personal coach, and president of Leader Communications—a company operating in Romania and Italy—as well as of the Total Quality Institute (Monte Carlo). His work is marked by a true passion for excellence and performance in every field and by one nagging question: “What could a person achieve if they fully harnessed all the talents and resources at their disposal?” He has spent his entire career in sales, starting with “door-to-door” sales during his college years and progressing to collaborations with Europe’s largest companies. For several years now, he has divided his time between Bucharest, where he conducts training sessions, and Monte Carlo, where he works in the real estate market.

Interested in the theoretical aspects of sales as well, he honed his knowledge of business psychology by taking, after graduating from college with a degree in psychology, specialized courses in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Transactional Analysis, Ericksonian Hypnosis, communication techniques, Personal and Business Coaching, working alongside the most renowned trainers in the field. Consequently, for approximately 20 years, in parallel with his work as a salesperson and sales network coordinator, he has been running a consulting firm in Italy and Romania focused on human resources development, with a specific emphasis on sales personnel (sales agents, negotiation teams, and sales managers).

With an excellent command of the Romanian language and having established close relationships with Romanian publishers, he has contributed a series of articles to the magazines *Idei de afaceri* and *Pretul Succesului*, and is frequently invited as a speaker at seminars and symposia. He was the first to bring the famous “Firewalking Seminar” to Romania, considered worldwide to be the most spectacular and effective method of personal development. Articles and reports about it have appeared in the most important newspapers and on television stations (Capital, Romania Libera, Libertatea, TVR1, ProTV, National TV). He is an advocate for applying the concept of “total quality” beyond the strictly economic sphere, having developed a series of original seminars in this field: Total Quality Coaching, Total Quality Life, Total Quality Selling. At the same time, Bruno is also actively involved in music and has a particular passion for extreme sports.

Philosophy, Practice, and the Search for Excellence

His philosophy on life from his youth. In one of his articles, Bruno says that when when he was young, he was a bit of a wild kid who had the opportunity to learn from great masters—people of value who guided him not down a well-trodden path, but along the path that helped him find his own way. When asked in a TV interview who his mentors were, he replied: Seneca, Plato, Aristotle, etc.—the great classics of antiquity—because everything that is now part of the realm of personal development was actually expressed in different words, much more simply, thousands of years ago. He believes that wisdom lies in these works and not in the seminars held by this or that foreign trainer who is in the country for a few days just to put on a show.

He was hired by a sales firm and had a wealth of ideas—gained from reading books—that he couldn’t wait to put into practice, but his bosses told him: “if you’re as good as you claim to be, you’ll first succeed in selling what we know, and then what you know.” He took on the challenge, and now he conducts professional sales training sessions at multinational corporations.

What Others Said About My Work

Bruno has learned to draw upon the various fields he has studied over the course of decades, so that the combination of these disciplines creates a wealth of foundational ideas for the training programs he develops. The natural way in which he structures his presentations in lectures and seminars is something his students admire. Furthermore, his ability to be spontaneous and to respect everyone’s perspective—while simultaneously broadening their worldview—completes the portrait of a man who has made a significant mark on Romania’s personal and professional development market.

Immediately after the Revolution, he was one of the first to introduce neuro-linguistic programming to Romania, conducting training sessions and writing a series of articles published in *Idei de Afaceri* as early as 1995. Since then, as he got to know people in the country and learned the language, he became fascinated by the Romanian spirit—which is very different from, say, the Russian or Polish spirit—because after the fall of the Berlin Wall, he wanted to discover which of the Eastern European countries would be the best fit for his development plans.

The ideas he promotes are based on common sense, but his perspective—with its focus on the details that matter—stems from professional and life experience grounded in solutions that work. One of his guiding principles is that those who preach must also practice what they preach, so everything he says is drawn from real-world experience, verified, and tested.
